Der italienische Maler Giovanni Paolo Panini (1691-1765) wurde für seineKopf, architektonische Caprices, Whims oder Fantasien, geschmiedet von der Phantasie. Er lehrte die Kunst der Malerei illusionistische Architektur durch den Bühnendeisgner Francesco Galli-Bibiena, um nach Rom 1711, wo er studierte Figur Malerei mit Benedetto Lutti. Dann zog er ins Studio von Andrea Locatelli. Es war üblich, dass sich ein Künstler auf ein bestimmtes Gebiet spezialisiert hat; im 17. Jahrhundert z.B. beschäftigten einige Porträtisten einen Spezialisten für Stoff- und Kostümmalerei, während sie ein anderes erhielten, um ein Bild durch Malerei Landschaft im Hintergrund zu leben.
