Diese Skulptur stellt die biblische Episode dar, in der Ishmael – von seiner Mutter in der Wüste verbannt, so dass sie ihn nicht vom Durst sterben sehen muss – die Faints, das ganze Wasser in der Amphora hinter ihm beendet hat (Genesis, 21, 8–21). Ishmael wurde 1884 von Strazza in seinem Studio in Palazzo Venezia, Rom modeled, wo es die Aufmerksamkeit der Stadt erregte
