Christina, hija menor de Christian II de Dinamarca e Isabella de Austria, hermana de Carlos V, nació en 1522. En 1533 se casó con el proxy el Duque de Milán, que murió en 1535. Holbein visitó Bruselas en 1538, y durante tres horas Christina se sentó para un retrato. Lleva ropa de luto. El embajador inglés estaba discutiendo para que Enrique VIII viera a la Duquesa
