Mentre una volta pensato per essere un ritratto, questo frammento raffigura una donna idealizzata piuttosto che specifica. La sua fronte alta è conforme alle norme periodiche di bellezza femminile, e il suo costume deriva da stili di corte Borgogna di circa 1470, che sono stati un po' superati dal momento in cui il dipinto è stato fatto. Probabilmente una volta formato l'ala sinistra esterna di un trittico. Quando il trittico era chiuso, le ali esterne ritrassero un'allegoria di amore cortese e virtù.
