Una riproduzione Smithsonian di Harriet Powers originale “Story Quilt”. Harriet Powers nacque uno schiavo e visse vicino ad Atene, Georgia. Nel 1886, quando Harriet aveva 49 anni, aveva finito il suo primo trapunta per esporre alla Clarke County Cotton Fair. Ha combinato lo stile africano di applique, con cucitura in stile europeo per creare "le coperte di storia" uniche che sono conservate oggi come pezzi notevoli di arte popolare, e la storia.
