Jingū, l'impératrice légendaire du Japon, était un guerrier-gouverneur, dit avoir été actif au troisième siècle. Une infirmière humide berceaut son fils, le futur empereur. Takenouchi no Sukune, son général wizé, tient un fan inscrit avec les mots « destroyer of arms », se référant à une étoile militairement auspieuse dans le Grand Dipper, et un rappel que Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) et beaucoup de ses étudiants – y compris Kōsai Hokushin – étaient adhérents au culte de l'étoile du Nord.
