Im Februar 1692 erlebte Glencoe einen der berüchtigtesten und brutalsten Massaker in der schottischen Geschichte. Unter dem Deckmantel der Finsternis schlachteten Campbell-Clansen ihre Rivalen, die Macdonalds von Glencoe. Die düstere Robustheit der Berge, mit ihren spektakulären Spikes, Klippe und Gullies, ist ein sehr inspirierender Blick, und es bleibt eines der am häufigsten besuchten Standorte in Schottland heute. In dieser Skizze betonte McCulloch die wilde Desolation der Gegend. Seine Verwendung von Rot in der Landschaft vielleicht verspricht Glencoe
