La composición celebra el fin del invierno a través de la unión de Flora, diosa romana de primavera, y Zephyr, dios del viento. A pesar de la preponderancia de las pinturas visuales, artistas venecianos especializados en figuras, entre ellas Amigoni, Sebastiano Ricci y Giovanni Pellegrini, también lograron el repute internacional y recibieron comisiones en toda Europa. Amigoni pintó este trabajo en Inglaterra, donde vivió entre 1729 y 1739.
