La inscripción grabada en este caso dice: Edwin Greble a Susan V. Major / 1829. / Painted by Jas. Smith. Edwin Greble (1806-1883) de Filadelfia realizó una obra de mármol y granito que produjo mantels, monumentos de cementerio y elementos arquitectónicos. Tenía esta miniatura de retrato hecho como regalo para su prometida, Susan Virginia Major (1808-1875), a quien se casó en 1831. La ventana revela una complicada trenza del pelo de Greble, que significaba como un recordatorio íntimo de su afecto por Susan.
