Serie Leeuwarden: avversari della RepubblicaFrancisco Hurtado de Mendoza era un generale molto conosciuto nell'esercito dell'arciduca Alberto d'Austria. Fu catturato dagli olandesi nella battaglia di Nieuwpoort il 2 luglio 1600 e tenuto prigioniero fino al 24 maggio 1602.Ciò che è stato preso come firma di Van Ravesteyn in precedenti cataloghi Rijksmuseum 43 può essere meglio descritto come un'iscrizione, e piuttosto che essere un'opera di Van Ravesteyn stesso, questo dipinto dovrebbe essere assegnato al suo laboratorio.
