Jan Brueghel Ho dipinto con tale precisione che è stato chiamato il Velvet Brueghel. È stato il primo artista fiammingo a dipingere fiori ancora-vita, ottenendo grande successo con loro. Questo piccolo mazzo di principalmente rose e tulipani si trova in uno speciale vaso di porcellana cinese: un kendi, o bottiglia d'acqua cinese. Brueghel l'ha posto di fronte a uno sfondo scuro, su cui spiccano molto bene le rose, i narcisi e i tulipani fiammati.
