Il principe Stanisław Jabłonowski (1799–1878) commissionò la placca nel 1871 dallo scultore di Cracovia, la pietramason e il conservatore di monumenti Edward Stehlik (1825–1888). Lo aveva montato nella parete delle fortificazioni tenaille del castello di Wawel. L'iscrizione sulla placca legge: KRAKUS, PREZZO DI POLONIA / RULED DA 730 a 750 / (PETER METRYKI KORONNE FASC: 2. PAG 40.) / SU QUESTO SPOT è LA CAVE / IN CHI HA KILLATO LA DRAGON TERRIBILE / E SETTATO SU LA PORTA DI WAWEL e ha trovato la città / KRAKOW / QUE QUESTO POSTO è piazzato qui da / PRINCE STANISŁAW PRUS JABŁONOWSKI / ART[ILLERY] CAP[TAIN: ARMY POLISH. Elżbieta M. Firlet ha stabilito che l'iscrizione differisce un po ' dal testo Jabłonowski composto. Wojnarowski deve aver dipinto questo acquerello alla fine del 1871, o nella prima metà del 1872, dal momento che è stato riprodotto in Zbiór pomników i napisanych nagrobków w główniejszy kościołach krakowskich stampato nel giugno 1872.
