Eine Szene aus dem Leben des Hl. Huberts erscheint hinter dem Sitter. Während der Jagd am Karfreitag sah der glückliche Hubert einen Hirsch mit einer Vision des Kreuzes zwischen seinen Geweihen. Er verzichtete auf seine weltliche Lebensweise, wandte sich an das Christentum, wurde ein Bischof, dann ein Heiliger. Die Szene ist hier vielleicht enthalten, weil der junge Mann Hubert genannt wurde oder zu einer Gilde gehörte, die dem Heiligen gewidmet ist. Von 1519 bis 1521 war Mostaert ein Hofmaler zum Regent der Niederlande, Margaret von Österreich.
