Van Goyen, Aelbert Cuyp, Herman Saftleven, Joris van der Haagen e altri artisti hanno realizzato disegni e dipinti dell'Elterberg alto 82 metri.3 Nella pittura Rijksmuseum la collina è vista dal Tolhuis (Toll House) sulla riva sinistra del Reno. Dal bordo dell'acqua a sinistra è il villaggio di Niederelten, e sulla collina si trova Hochelten con il suo monastero.
