Questo piccolo dipinto forma una coppia con un frutto ancora-vita. Insieme, sono unici nell'oeuvre di Jan van Huysum, che ha dipinto principalmente grandi, mazzi sontuosi. Le nature morte di Van Huysum erano molto popolari – era uno dei più alti pittori pagati della sua giornata.
