Dieses Werk wurde einmal gedacht, ein Porträt des Malers Rosa Bonheur (1822–1899) als Kind zu sein, aber es scheint einen Jungen zu repräsentieren. Corots Porträts beschränkten sich auf Freunde und Mitglieder seiner Familie, aber bis jetzt bleibt die Figur nicht identifiziert.
