Corot ha dipinto questo schizzo ma assicurato mentre era allievo di Jean-Victor Bertin e l'ha tenuto fino alla sua morte. Rappresenta la madre e la sorella di Corot in piedi da un grande pioppo italiano che ha segnato l’ingresso della proprietà della famiglia a Ville d’Avray, vicino a Parigi.
