Vanmour probablemente pintó el retrato de Abdullah Efendi (1680?-1743). A partir de 1718 este sacerdote griego fue adscrito a la corte en función del Islam Seyhül y tuvo que limpiar el campo después de la rebelión de 1730. Fue desterrado, pero regresó tranquilamente a Estambul donde murió en 1743. Abdullah tuvo una impresionante colección de documentos religiosos legales y desempeñó un papel crucial en la introducción de la impresión en el Imperio Otomano.
