Re di Francia e NavarraUno dei più bei ritratti di Luigi XV custoditi a Versailles. Entrato al trono nel 1715, Luigi XV venne ad essere conosciuto come “le Bien-Aimé” (l’Amato). Nel 1722 trasferì la Corte e la sede del governo alla Reggia di Versailles, abbandonata dopo la morte di Luigi XIV. Nel 1725 sposò Marie Leszczyńska, che gli avrebbe portato un erede. Luigi XV era un appassionato studente di scienza, soprattutto botanica, e ha fatto molto per arricchire i giardini del palazzo. Ha anche commissionato la costruzione del Petit Trianon per la sua amante, Madame de Pompadour. Titolo completo: Luigi XV, re di Francia e Navarra (1710-1774)
