Der Schrankmacher und Mechaniker Jean-François Oeben entwarf dieses neue Möbelstück, das berühmteste Beispiel davon ist Louis XV Schreibtisch in Versailles, in Auftrag gegeben 1761 und von Oebens Nachfolger Jean-Henri Riesener 1769 geliefert. Madame de Pompadour besaß einen Schreibtisch sehr ähnlich wie dieser (mit einem unteren Regal ausgestattet), bemerkenswert für seine kleine Größe und die Qualität seiner Marquetry Dekoration von Blumen. Dieses Stück stammt aus der Sammlung von Comte Boni de Castellane.
