Seit dem frühen neunzehnten Jahrhundert, die Wasserfront Schiff und Holz Werft in dieser Ansicht gezeigt wurde als Larsens Plads, oder Larsen’s Place, nach seinem Gründer, Lars Larsen. Dahl bemalte diese Aussicht zunächst im Jahre 1816 (Kurpfälzisches Museum, Heidelberg) und verdoppelte die Größe der Leinwand, räumte zufällige Details aus und steigerte ihre atmosphärische Wirkung. Diese placide Szene, die als Anhänger einer weit wilderen, natürlichen, Tiroler Landschaft mit einem Wasserfall (1823; private Sammlung) konzipiert wurde, blieb beim Tod des Künstlers ungelöst.
