Il soffitto e le pareti di questa stanza sono rivestiti in un delicato vuoto floreale rosa-patterned reso con pennellata virtuosa; la luce che entra attraverso la finestra porta alla smaterializzazione della forma e all'ammorbidimento dei dettagli fini. Lo specchio sulla vanità riflette uno specchio altrove nella stanza, che trasmette la luce filtrata dalla finestra indietro alla vanità, prestando una nota di complessità alla scena. Era probabilmente la reputazione di Gertner come ritrattista che ha portato alla possibilità di dipingere questo interno nel Palazzo Bernstorff dopo la sua ristrutturazione del 1842 da Christian VIII, re di Danimarca (r. 1840–48).
