Conosciuta anche come View of Houses in Delft, questa è l'unica scena all'aperto conosciuta da Vermeer di questo tipo: una strada tranquilla con poche figure. L'artista ha catturato meticolosamente i vari materiali: i mattoni usurati della muratura, il glam delle finestre piombo, la parete intonacata bianca. La vernice viene applicata spesso in un punto e sottile in un altro; in alcuni luoghi è liscia, in altri granulosi. Dalle collezioni di J. Dissius (Delft), P. e L. van Winter e J. Six (Amsterdam), tra le altre. Dono di Sir Henry Deterding, 1921.
