Un lavoro tipico di Peto, questo dipinto porta la falsa firma di William Michael Harnett, il suo più noto contemporaneo. In realtà, Harnett sembra essere stato ispirato a creare “rack” dipinti di Peto esempio in immagini come questo. Alcuni degli oggetti bloccati nella griglia sono datati o datable e forniscono indizi agli anni in cui l'artista sembra aver lavorato sul dipinto. La fotografia della figlia di Peto mostrata in alto a sinistra fu probabilmente aggiunta, sopra un ritratto precedente, intorno al 1900, quando la ragazza era circa sette. La definizione di oggetti di Peto è più generalizzata e meno puramente descrittiva di quella di Harnett.
