John Glover era già un artista consolidato quando emigrò in Tasmania nel 1831 a 64 anni. Un acquerello di grande successo e pittore di vedute arcadiane nella tradizione del paesaggista francese Claude Lorrain, Glover adatta rapidamente il suo stile pittoresco e la tecnica luminosa ai suoi nuovi dintorni.
