Dieses Porträt einer Mutter und zwei Kinder zeigt die Familie von John Garden. Bis 1808, als Garden Senior das Anwesen von Redisham Hall, Suffolk kaufte, lebte die Familie in London. Gardens Sohn, noch ein Baby, hat die faire Haut eines Rothaarigen. Er trägt ein weißes Kleid mit drei Reihen von vier winzigen, Messingknöpfen auf dem Mieder, und sitzt in seiner Mutter Schoß. Das Bild, das Hoppners sympathische Reaktion auf junge Kinder zeigt, ist unvollendet, wurde aber dennoch von der Familie akzeptiert.
