Questo ritratto di una madre e due bambini mostra la famiglia di John Garden. Fino al 1808, quando Garden senior acquistò la proprietà di Redisham Hall, Suffolk, la famiglia visse a Londra. Il figlio di Garden, ancora un bambino, ha la giusta pelle di una rossa. Indossa un vestito bianco rifinito con tre file di quattro piccoli bottoni in ottone sul corpetto, e si siede nel giro di sua madre. Il quadro, che dimostra la risposta simpatica di Hoppner ai bambini piccoli, è incompiuto ma è stato accettato dalla famiglia tuttavia.
