Las tres hijas del Honorable Percy Wyndham, un rico londinense, aparecen en este lienzo monumental. De la izquierda, son Madeline Adeane (1869-1941), Pamela Tennant (1871-1928), y Mary Constance, Lady Elcho (1862-1937). Sargent los pintó en la sala de dibujo de la residencia de su familia en la plaza Belgrave. Visto en la pared sobre ellos es el retrato de George Frederic Watts de su madre (colección privada), que establece su genealogía y recuerda a los espectadores de los vínculos de Sargent con artistas mayores. Presentada en 1900 en la Real Academia, las Hermanas Wyndham fueron aclamadas por los críticos y apodados “Las Tres Gracias” por el Príncipe de Gales.
