Questo ritratto di una donna non identificata assomiglia a molti altri ritratti del tempo, sia britannico che americano. Lo scambio artistico era comune attraverso l'Oceano Atlantico. I cittadini coloniali di alta classe viaggiarono a Londra, dove alcuni avevano dipinto i loro ritratti. Gli artisti britannici si trasferirono in America per la loro carriera. Il fatto che non sappiamo dove sia stato dipinto questo ritratto sta rivelando e parla al fiorente scambio culturale transatlantico durante il periodo coloniale.
