Isaia Isacco si ritiene che sia stato il primo colonio ebreo a Richmond, in Virginia, ad arrivare nella zona nel 1769. Come il padre del soggetto, Isaacs era un argenteo, ma nella tradizione del XVIII secolo si rammentò in altri campi. Il signor Isaacs ha stabilito una partnership con Jacob Cohen, e hanno gestito una delle prime taverne della città di Richmond, la Bird-in-Hand. Richea Myers Marx (1769-1838) era la figlia dell'argenteria Myer Myers di New York. Sposò Joseph Marx, un mercante di origine tedesca che si stabilì qui nel 1790. Risiedevano a Richmond al sesto e a Cary Streets. La famiglia Marx apparteneva alla Congregazione Beth Shalome ed era prominente nella fiorente comunità ebraica che è fiorita a Richmond dal XVIII secolo.
