Ophelia (1894) è un dipinto ad olio del pittore inglese Pre-Raphaelite John William Waterhouse. Ophelia è la figlia di Polonius, sorella di Laertes, e ha respinto l'amante di Amleto nella tragedia di Shakespeare Amleto. Ophelia è un simbolo di innocenza impazzita. Una figlia debita, è manipolata per spiare Amleto e deve sopportare le sue osservazioni umilianti e brutali. Lei crede di essere arrabbiato, commentando tristemente "O, che mente nobile è qui o'erthrown." Dopo aver perso l'affetto di Amleto, si arrabbia quando suo padre viene ucciso da Amleto. La sua scena folle (atto IV, scena 5) è una delle più conosciute nella letteratura occidentale. La sua follia e la sua morte e il comportamento di Amleto nella sua tomba infiammano ulteriormente Laerti alla vendetta.
