I disegni e le texture di questi oggetti mostrano chiaramente caratteristiche distintive dello stile Art Deco. Jean Dunand (1877-1942) è stato un artigiano che ha imparato tecniche di laccatura da un laccato-lavoratore giapponese, e li ha applicati ai disegni occidentali. Ha guadagnato il suo posto nella storia come uno dei più grandi artisti Art Deco attraverso idee romane come laccare metalli e tessuti. Lo stile Art Deco tentò di integrare belle arti e industria, e la loro acuta adorazione per il modernismo si rifletteva nelle loro opere. Tuttavia, come dimostrano questi articoli, gli artisti Art Deco non abbandonarono completamente la creazione di articoli one-off a mano.
