Wool felting is an ancient craft, producing one of the earliest handmade fiber products. In the nomadic life felted wool tents acted as second skins; Home was not about “boundaries” or “territories” but about “routes” or “spaces” to carry along the way. Using natural material like soft wool, Artist Kang Ya-Chu tries to tell the story about a different way of living through a scaled down version of these ancient homes. In modern cities, homes are like protective shells that carry a personal history of the space and time lived. Even when walls are taken down and marks erased, the homes still leave behind their traces in peoples’ minds. No. 56- Tent seeks to materialize these memories, representing the image of short-lived homes and migration.
