Este par de pantallas retrata historias bien conocidas pero raramente ilustradas. A la derecha está Huang Chuping, un pastor que ganó la capacidad de transformar piedras en ovejas. Flanked por su hermano escéptico y un joven asistente, Chuping fija su mirada en una roca blanca brillante en el fondo del tercer panel, donde un olor de tinta sugiere una transformación inminente. A la izquierda hay un par de reclusas. Xu You, disquieted after decline an offer to take over the Empire, rushes to wash his ears in a spring. Chaofu decide que la primavera está ahora demasiado contaminada para regar su toro. Las pantallas son una obra maestra del llamado gyō, o "correr", estilo de pintura de tinta. Con orígenes en la pintura china de la Canción del Sur, es uno de tres estilos asimilados por artistas japoneses medievales y transformados por los primeros pintores escolares de Kano, especialmente Kano Motonobu y su nieto Eitoku (1543–1590).
