Ein Segelboot im Mondlicht, in der Nähe einer Klippe. Ziegen bewundern die Landschaft. Baade war ein norwegischer Romantiker, besonders bekannt für Porträts und Landschaftsbilder. Er spezialisierte sich auf Mondlichtbilder mit Marinemotiven von der norwegischen Küste. Manchmal hing er seine Bilder auf den Kopf, so dass der Mond wie ein offenes Auge aussehen würde, das den Betrachter anstarrte. Baade verbrachte den größten Teil seines Lebens in München, wo König Ludwig I. von Bayern einer seiner Patronen war. Der König war so begeistert von seinen Gemälden, dass er eine Büste aus Baade, die in einem Kunstmuseum in München platziert wurde, genehmigte.
