レオナルド・オヒトマンは、彼の風景画で知られるオランダのアメリカ人アーティストでした。 1854年にオランダに生まれ、オヒトマンは装飾画家の息子でした。 1866年、彼は木工業のドラフトマンとして働いたニューヨーク、アルバニーに移転しました。 1879年にニューヨーク市に移住。 ニューヨークでは、同人アーティストチャールズ・ウォーレン・イートン氏と同室し、アメリカの印象派のムーブメントの開発に重要だったアーティストのグループと協力しました。 美術学生リーグでの簡単なスタントに加えて、オヒトマンは主に自作でした。 1886年にヨーロッパへ渡航する前に、1882年にナショナル・アカデミー・オブ・デザインで風景を展示し、翌年ニューヨークに帰国。 Ochtmanと妻、画家のMina Fonda Ochtmanは、Cos Cob Art Colonyのメンバーを見つけた1891年にコネチカットに移りました。 娘のドロシーは両親の下で勉強し、自分の右で達成された画家になりました。 1916年、オクマンがブリュース美術館のグリーンウィッチ・ソサエティとキュレーターの会長に就任しました。 1932年(昭和40年)まで両役に立ちました。
