Diese Kopie der berühmten skulpturalen Gruppe des Laokons in den Vatikanischen Museen stammt aus dem so genannten Casa degli Omenoni, wo Leone Leoni seine Sammlung von Gipskartons der wichtigsten Kunstwerke in Rom bewahrte. Es kam mit der Bartolomeo Calchi Donation in die Ambrosiana und wurde sofort neben der Kopie von Michelangelo’s Pietà ausgestellt. Der rechte Arm, der eher verlängert als gebogen ist, zeigt, dass dieser Guss nach der 1532-1533 Restaurierung des Originals hergestellt wurde.
