Se non fosse per l'iscrizione, la pittura di Lin Shu potrebbe essere presa per un paesaggio montano idealizzato con uno studioso generico che guarda da un ponte. Lin scrive che ha visitato le meravigliose grotte e cime di Wenzhou nel Zhejiang, e che sta dipingendo questo fan come "preview" per un amico che lo accompagnerà nello stesso viaggio il giorno successivo.
