Liu Deliu's Fan in einer engen inky Reihe von Farben gemalt porträtiert ein Eichhörnchen prekärisch zwischen seinem Ziel, eine saftige Traube, und seine Neugier über die Absichten eines Insekts, der auf dieses Objekt geleuchtet hat. Die Lebendigkeit dieses Themas hat offensichtlichen Charme. In seiner Inschrift sagt Liu, er arbeitet im Stil von Lu Shouping (Lu Zhi, 1496–1576), einem Ming-Künstler, der für seine sensiblen Beobachtungen bekannt ist, die in Farbskizzen von Blumen und Vögeln überlagert sind. Mit Animation, subtiler Farbe und einem dekorativen Format verwandelt Liu ein Thema von Interesse an Gelehrte-Künstler seit dem Yuan in ein populäres Bild.
