Questo è uno dei ritratti più innovativi e dinamici del Rinascimento. Il collezionista veneziano Andrea Odoni (1488-1545) detiene in una mano una statuetta di Diana di Efeso, simbolo della natura, e con l'altra chiuda una croce al petto, suggerendo che il cristianesimo ha la precedenza sulla natura e gli dei pagani dell'antichità. Lotto è tornato a Venezia dopo tredici anni a Bergamo ed è stato ansioso di impressionare i possibili patroni a Venezia.
