Die Frau auf dem Gemälde zeigt Ähnlichkeit mit sowohl Catherina von Bora, Luthers Frau, und Sybilla, Prinzessin von Sachsen, für die Cranach großen Respekt hatte. Die gleiche Figur und Gesicht wurde in den 1520er Jahren auf mehreren Darstellungen von Judith und Salome von Cranach verwendet.
