Johannes Spiessheimer (Cuspinien) était un savant à la cour de l'empereur Maximilien Ier, lui-même écrivain, qui a fait de Vienne, par sa chancellerie et son université, la principale ville humaniste en Allemagne. Cette huile sur peinture en bois (59 x 45 cm) est maintenant dans la collection Oscar Reinhardt, Winterthur.
