Le figure occupano solo la parte superiore dei due piccoli ritratti, la parte inferiore è presa da iscrizioni lunghe. I dipinti ritraggono i due elettori in abito solenne mantenendo il loro status. In queste due piccole opere vediamo la marcata predilezione dell'artista tedesco per un realismo quasi popolare, che si ottiene attraverso un profilo croccante e forte e attenzione ai dettagli. A Cranach la ricerca della bellezza del Rinascimento italiano è assente; i volti dei sovrani, sia in consistenza che in espressione, sono portati al limite della caricatura.
