Las figuras ocupan sólo la parte superior de los dos pequeños retratos, la parte inferior siendo tomada por largas inscripciones. Las pinturas retratan a los dos Electors en vestido solemne manteniendo su estatus. En estas dos pequeñas obras vemos la marcada predilección del artista alemán por un realismo casi popular, que se logra por medio de un esbozo nítido, contundente y la atención al detalle. En Cranach está ausente la búsqueda de la belleza renacentista italiana; los rostros de los soberanos, tanto en el rostro como en la expresión, son llevados al límite de la caricatura.
