Manuel Ángeles Ortiz a loué des sentiments exempts d'adjectifs, au moyen d'une expression plastique cubiste singulière à sa situation d'artiste espagnol à l'École de Paris, transformant ainsi cette œuvre en un exemple magistral d'équilibre entre émotion et sentiment.
