Los santos son, de izquierda a derecha, Francisco, Mateo, Luis de Toulouse, Juan Evangelista, Anthony Abbot y Peter Martyr. Las amapolas que se extienden sobre el suelo son emblemas de muerte, mientras que el azote que atraviesa el muro representa una nueva vida: tomadas juntas, estos símbolos representan la victoria de Cristo sobre la muerte. El arreglo rígido y formal de las figuras es bastante anticuado en un trabajo de esta fecha. El cuadro fue probablemente pintado para celebrar un matrimonio entre los miembros de las familias Michiel y Donà en Venecia, cuyos escudos aparecen en las esquinas inferiores.
