Mei Qings wohlhabendste Zeit als Maler war von 1690 bis 1695. Spezialisiert auf das intime Format des Albums, kehrte er oft zu einer vertrauten Reihe von Kompositionstypen zurück, die er in jeder Ausführung leicht variierte. In diesem Album präsentierte Mei seine sehr persönlichen Interpretationen der alten Meister und behandelte seine Modelle kreativ als Ausgangspunkt für seine eigenen hoch originellen Kompositionen. Mei verstärkte die Vielfalt der Bilder durch wechselnde große Panoramas mit intimen Nahaufnahmen und durch die Verwendung eines anderen Siegels auf allen, aber ein Blatt.
