リマの電気路面電車は1904年に初めて登場しました。 その最初のルートは、Plasela de la Exposición(today Plaza Grau)にある駅から始まり、Lima-Chorrillosルートでした。 覆われた2番目のルートは、サンファン・デ・ディオス広場(現在のサン・マーティン・スクエアの角)から始まり、ラ・プンタで終わるリマ・コールオルートでした。 1918年、リマは39キロの道路を持っていたし、1923年までに、166キロに増加し、さらに拡張計画していた。 しかし、1920年代半ばから、より安価な運賃バスや運用上の問題の競争により路面電車の運行が低下しました。 路面電車は、電気エネルギーの発生と分布に専念し、1965年までに、首都全体で作業を中止しました。
