One of the earliest Slavic settlements was discovered at the confluence of the river Bolečica and the Danube, in the vicinity of Ritopek and the former ancient settlement of Tricornium. In this open-type village, there were half-buried residential houses built of stone, mud and wood, and some of them had ceramic or metallurgical kilns. A kiln of one of the settlement’s log houses held stone moulds for casting jewellery: rings, chain rings, parts of necklaces and ball-shaped earrings. Along with these two moulds, pieces of stone already prepared for making other moulds were found on the floor in front of the stone kiln, among the fragments of Slavic vessels and pieces of metal slag. These are the oldest reliable confirmations on the territory of Belgrade of Slavic goldsmiths and their workshops for casting jewellery made of non-ferrous metals.
