Рустер, представитель патриархального главы семьи—per Confucian Идеал— был популярным предметом в китайской и японской живописи домодернистской эпохи. Здесь птицы замолкают в негативном белом цвете на фоне серого чернильного мытья. Вместе с Itō Jakuchū (1716–1800) и Soga Shōhaku (1730–1781) Розетсу был известен как один из “Three Ecorienteds” (san kijin) XVIII века Киото. Учился вместе с Маруямой Ōkyo (1733–1795), основателем школы Киото’s Maruyama.
